The Weight of Stillness
idea: world peace is achieved. humans all live in harmony with each other. and then people start getting bored without all the chaos
The Stillness of Forever
The great storm ended, silence descended deep,
Where jagged edges finally fell asleep.
No cannons roared across the fractured land,
No bitter treaties gripped a shaking hand.
The centuries of friction ceased their grind,
And all the warring spirits were resigned.
World peace was woven, a soft, silver thread,
Where ancient hatreds lay forever dead.
The skies grew lighter, washed in endless blue,
A quiet understanding, fresh and true.
The crowded cities softened into grace,
No anxious hunger marked the human face.
Across the oceans, silent ships did sail,
Beneath a sun that promised sweet exhale.
For every nation found its kindred soul,
And made the broken pieces truly whole.
We learned to walk upon a common ground,
Where every voice was gently heard and found.
The walls of fear dissolved into the air,
Replaced by open trust and tender care.
The hands that once were gripping in despair,
Now built together gardens everywhere.
The noise of conflict faded from the ear,
And traded battle cries for gentle cheer.
But stillness holds a weight that starts to press,
A subtle shift in vast forgetfulness.
When chaos reigned, there was a sharp desire,
To fight, to strive, to fuel the burning fire.
We chased the edge, we wrestled for the right,
And found our purpose in the darkest night.
Now all is calm; the tension has withdrawn,
The frantic tempo of the rising dawn.
And so the age of harmony was spun,
A golden tapestry beneath the sun.
But in this perfect, gentle, settled state,
A strange new emptiness began to wait.
Without the clash, the friction and the fray,
What fills the void at close of every day?
The absence of the struggle, sharp and bright,
Leaves empty spaces bathed in endless light.
Boredom arrived, a slow and creeping tide,
Where frantic action no longer could abide.
The old deep urges that once burned so keen,
Now drift like mist within a placid scene.
There is no drama etched upon the view,
No urgent threat, no battle to pursue.
The hunger for the fierce and sudden pain,
Has vanished in this gentle, sunlit rain.
We sit among the blossoms, soft and slow,
And watch the quiet where the wild winds blow.
The peace achieved, a masterpiece complete,
But in that stillness, sorrow tastes so sweet.
For life requires a tension, sharp and high,
A striving spirit underneath the sky.
To find true meaning, strength, and burning zest,
We thought we sought it in the conflict’s test.
Now boredom whispers on the tranquil breeze,
A mild, soft sigh among the ancient trees.
We have the world at peace, a flawless view,
But what new fire shall guide us, fresh and new?
For freedom is not merely absence of a fight,
But finding purpose in the endless light.
And so we wait, suspended, calm, and vast,
For something deeper that the stillness cast.
